Taphozous saccolaimus crassus
The adult body weight ranges between 35.0 to 40.0 grams. Dorsal fur is jet black with small white spots here and there. A gular pouch is present in both sexes but this is less developed in females. A few bristles are present on the end of the tail. A repelling smell emanates from the body of the specimen. The specimens were collected from among the tiles in the roofs of houses and also from the hollows in decayed trunks of palmyra trees. The specimens of this species live solitarily or in small groups of two to eight animals. It emerges from the roost within a short time after sunset and flies very fast. This species is rare and eluding.
